Create your own sporting memories with Sim-Cricket, a new cricket board game for two players or solo play.
The concept is simple:
- The bowling side positions its fielders and throws dice to determine the type of ball bowled, i.e. its direction and length.
- The batting side selects a shot and throws dice to determine the result – either runs scored, an appeal or no runs scored.
- If an appeal occurs, a further dice throw determines whether the batsman is out.
- Record the outcome and repeat
There is however much more complexity should you wish to tap into it and and you can even customise the rules to suit. The supplied rules cover weather, pitch condition, player abilities and skills and the psycological impact of bowlers taking wickets or being hit for runs
What can I do with Sim-Cricket?
Sim-Cricket enables you to replay historic games or to create your own fantasy games. Fancy replaying the iconic 2005 ashes series? Like to know how the best players from today would fair against players from the past? Then find out by playing the Sim-Cricket cricket board game.
If you think that your Nan could have played Marshall, Holding and Roberts et al better than the England players at the time then you can set up your family team and your Nan can be hooking Marshall into the Mound Stand at Lords. If you think she’d be better after an extra G&T then increase her batting rating after the drinks interval via the custom rules!
Where can I find out more?
You can find out more on the Sim-Cricket YouTube channel where there are some videos showing the match reports from Sim-Cricket matches and explaining how player ratings can be derived. In future there will be tutorial videos explaining different aspects of the Sim-Cricket game – for now purchasers of the game will have to rely on the User-guide that comes with it!
There is also a Sim-Cricket Facebook page where players can post the results of their matches and talk about their experiences with the game. I’ve put the result from a replay of the first 2005 Ashes Test… let’s just say it was a close game!
